One day old baby missing in the hospital after delivery. Mother inconsolable 3 months after.
I burst into one local station yesterday a journalist was interviewing one man name Mr. Alimma. His wife had put to birth 4 day premature baby who was then put in an intensive care unit.In a hospitalm in down town Yaounde (name withheld)
They the parents were asked to fetch for some eighty thousand francs (80 000frs ) for the child’s care; as they were struggling in town to get the said amount a telephone call came from the hospital: that the child has died and that they should not worry again.
The gentleman rushed back to the said hospital and demanded to see the corps of the child. He was told the child was already in the mortuary. He asked to be taken to the mortuary to see the corps of the baby so he can take the baby home and bury to no avail.
In desperation he and the wife asked to see the Director of the hospital to stage their case the Director refused to receive them. After many fruitless attempts they handed the matter to an NGO for the defense of the rights of the poor.
A complain was lodged at the judicial police department for investigation.
When the Journalist asked Mrs. Alima the mother of the missing baby to tell her own side of the story; She burst out crying loudly and saying "Je veux mon bébé trois mois deja c,est insurpotable, je peux mourir" I want my baby death or alive three months is too much i can die. I could not stop tears pouring out of my eyes following such a pathetic story. While waiting for the outcome of the investigation which seems to be taking a scaring delay,we should pray such a situation never happens again
My advice to mothers about to deliver
Make sure you are accompanied to the hospital by at least 3 family members who should be very vigilant before and after delivery until you are discharged from the hospital.
