Thanks to the stringent and transparent management of Diocesesan resourcess through a centralised system call one common Basket ; the Diocesse of Buea is solving Catholic teachers Sallary problem that will go a long way to improve living standards of teachers , Stabilise the workforce and improve output.
I got this revelation from a 228pages book which I devoured in one night . The title of the book is –THE EFFECT OF SANBALLAT ON VISIONING AND TRANSFORMATIVE SOCIAL CHANGE-Hard reading from my original spiritual diary. By Rev Father Nkeze PHD
The originator and implimentator of the idea is Rev Father Nkeze . As a son of a catholic School teacher who in his youth had felt the pangs of hunger because their Dad though devoted in his duty had to go for months without salary for lack of Govenment subvention ;Father Nkeze knew where the shoes pinches better than most of his colleagues.
His Vision of creating one Common basket for the Catholic schools in the Diocesse both primary and secondary got the blessing of his Bishop Immanuel Bushu who rebaptised it « KOINONEA » drawing inspiration from the act of the apostle 2;44-45
Thanks to KOINONEA the Diocess has reaped the following benefits :
-Catholic teachers are receiving their salaries regularly
-There is an annual increase in teachers salary , target being to let them earn the same salaries as their colleague in Government
-Catholic teachers children are given scholarships in primary and secondary schools
-The laity is actively involved in running catholic shools ;-District supervisors of school, vice principal of secondary schools etc etc
-Duty post allowance has been introduced in the school system
-New schools were created ,7 in number
-John Pauls Institute of theology was created
-The Diocesse started the Catholic University Institute of Buea with funds from this common basket.
This book is highly revealing and a compellling read for all managers with a vision.

I like the enormous fruits that have been reaped from the Koinonia initiative. This is the power of individual sacrifice, which, unfortunately, few people are ready to make in our society. Equally the sense of the common good needs to grow in our communities to ensure the success of such initiatives. Congratulations to Fr. George Nkeze and thanks for sharing the good news.

That's great news for it will increase the motivation in the teachers and may also improve their standard of living which is crucial.
